Millicent Dillon received a degree in physics from Hunter College in 1944 and later held a series of technical-science positions.After receiving a master’s degree in 1966, she taught creative writing as a professor of English at Foothill College in Los Altos, CA. Since 1983 Dillon has been a freelance writer in fiction, biography, and drama. Her major biographical works include several volumes portraying the lives of Isadora Duncan, Mary Cassatt and her biographical portraits of Paul Bowles (You Are Not I) and his wife, Jane Bowles (A lLittle Original Sin)

The play takes us to a unique location, a man’s interior soundscape. The cacophonic urban sounds that assault him from outside have pervaded his inner world. He cannot control their presence and intensity. We meet him in his room, follow him through the streets of a city, commuter trains, and locations such as highway and tunnels where cars playfully blast their horns. Noise dominates his thoughts and personal life. Driven to deafening himself, the sounds of his own physical interior merely substitute for those outside. The man searches but finds no understandable cause for his loss of control over these sonic onslaughts.
