Esmé was the name given by the Baroness to a stray Hyena she had adopted while out riding. Later that afternoon the animal found a Gypsy’s baby left on the roadside, carried it into the woods and ate it. But sadly, returning to the Baroness, Esmé became road-kill by a passing motorist. In her distress the Baroness thought up a shrewd plan for reparation.
