Opening at Sundance in January 2021, followed by quickly being picked up by Paramount+, Lucy Walker’s film Bring Your Own Brigade’ dives into first responders and survivors’ stories on the Camp Fire and Woolsey Fires in California and the “hellish realization that all over this planet wildfires are burning us alive.” Walker also explores tactfully the complex science around these specific fires and the controversial topic that climate change is threatening mankind.

Lucy Walker is a twice Academy nominated English film director living in California who was named one of the “Top 25 New Faces In Independent Film” by Filmmaker. Her documentary directing career includes Waste Land and The Tsunami and the Cherry Blossom, both nominated for the Academy Award in 2010 and 2011.

Jim was directed to create the sound and effects for this documentary exploring the themes of sounds of fire, panic and heartbreak seen throughout the documentary. Samuel Lehmer, an award-winning sound mixer then went on to mix BYOB at Disher Sound Studios, a-state-of-the-art facility in San Francisco. Following this, Jeremiah Moore then assisted with a massive conform using Matchbox (previously known as Conformalizer) to retime all elements of the film, including the sound mix, compositional work, dialogue, and closed captions.

After a successful premier the film at Sundance, BYOB was picked up by Paramount+, and the film was sent for another round of post-production in June 2021 to enter the theaters August 6th.
